they won the fucking La Liga this year, the 2nd best league in the whole world (EPL is undeniably still the best)... They've always been a top club.......... An upstart would be a team like Eredivisie, or Galatasaray

Eredivisie is a league not a team, but I get your point. But, bear with me for a second here. They are the much "smaller" club with a lot less money. They simply can't walk around, buying every player they see, and acting like they can't read a price tag. They built something on a budget, and it's slowly starting to frighten the big boys. They are a bit like Borussia Dortmund in Germany against FC Bayern. Real on the other hand are broke, yet still set in their old ways "Buy every fucking superstar we can get our grubby hands on, no matter the cost. We are fucking Real! We can't be bothered by things as mundane as bank balances ans shit, that's for the poor, not us." As you might imagine by now, I really hope UEFA means serious business with their financial fair play rules this time.
